SIMONA AND AUGA ON THE PREPARATION MEETING IN CRACOV

After 12 hours of travelling from Vilnus, here they are Simona and Auga from Babilonas Youth Centre. Welcome to Cracov! The magic city, they say.

So we can start our preparation for the exchange. Two days in Cracov and many things to discuss about...The friday evening was very busy with the work on project. 

We have learned more about our organisations and about our way of working with the youth. 
And...it seems we have much in common but a lot to share as well :)

Rachela and Johny - the leaders from A little bit different theatre, are excited about the meeting with the girls and an occasion to speak english, practise makes perfect!

Don't rest too long girls! There's so much more in front of us :) We're going to the Piekary near to Cracov where the exchange will take place.

The place for the exchange seems to be a paradise...Can you see those trees behind? Looks quite exotic...

One of the houses behind will be ours. Beautiful green area around...let's sit on the grass and finish our brainstorming.

Last matters to talk about it and then we'll go to see some atractions back to Cracov. You can't go back without seeing the Market Square at least! But before that...

we had a great opportunity to see one of the Theatre Gorteska performances. Yes, Simona we'll back here during the exchange...you'll see why:)

Babilonas Youth Centre is one of the first non-profit youth organisations in Lithuania - Vilnius, that works with 15-20 years old people in a field of art as a way to communicate. We work with young people, trying to help them to have an orientation in this new society, when your own responsibility and opinion are very important. We try to help young people to express themselves.

PARTICIPANTS FROM THE WINGS ASSOCIATION AND A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT THEATRE

We're actors and leaders from The Wings Association - Centre for Therapy, Art and Integration and A little bit different theatre from Cracov. We love theatre for its openess. We assume that what is important in art is primarily artistic aspects. Thus, things like the looks, physical fitness, IQ level do not matter; what does, is the message one has to tell the world.  Our aim is to to restore dignity to the people and groups in danger of social exclusion by means of art and prepare high quality performances like Beckett or Kafka. You can see us in both cracovian and foreign theatres.

LET'S START! Poles and Lithuanians in a theatre space

The project Connected in art – Poles and Lithuanians in theatre space is the youth exchange which will start a cooperation between The Wings Association – Centre for Art, Therapy and Integration from Cracow and Youth Centre Babilonas from Vilnus. The project is organised thank to support from the Polish-Lithuanian Fund of the Youth Exchange.

The uniqe issue of our project is that it's a meeting between mentally or physically disabled youth and the health one.There's maybe many things which differ us, but there's one special area which we're all passionate about it's THEATRE. Theatre as a form art has the tools which create a space for expressing oneself, for developement ones personalities, for fighting with restrictions and prejudices. 

The aim of the project is to give an opportunity for a meeting between youth from different social environment in a coomon theatre space. Through theatre the youth will be able to find the most important issues like tolerance and openess in coexisting of these two groups of disabled and healthy young people in society. 

The main topic of the project is 'Theatre without barriers'. The activitities will be mainly theatre workshops leading by polish and lithuanians specialists. The youth will get know different kinds of theatre methods. 

In that way we want to have a good atmosphere for working together which will let the youth to create a final etude which will be shown for a wider audience in front of the Bunkier Sztuki (pl.Szczepański 3 a). In case of bad weather we invite you to see us in Klub Lokator (Krakowska 27). We will inform about the proper time on the blog and facebook (Stowarzyszenie Skrzydła).
